Artist Statement by Kriszta Hernadi: Art as Music
"Internal necessity" by Kandinsky and "synchronicity" by Jung rolled into one and presented as is - shameless - without installation or other non-painterly ways:
I paint paintings, energy portraits of intellectual and emotional processes always intending to transcend content and form and the visual. Abstract with rhythm. Cosmopolitan with local sensibilities. Cross-cultural with cultivating culture.
Representational tonalities appear to kick start the association process primarily through the use of colour and embedded, partial and fragmented suggestions of form. Transcending content and form and the visual is the challenge that can only be met by the viewer and so the circle of art creation completes.
The responsibility of the artist is to be true to herself by invoking the gods and goddesses by drumming on the canvas with or without the brush. Archetypes inhabit the symbol-field and they play the bass, the harp and the lyre. Jung is smiling and we are jamming. Emily Carr, Georgia O'Keeffe and Frida Kahlo were here last night.
Artist Statement by Gregory Bruce:
Oh everything is so
fine today
I have nothing
in my mind and nothing to say
If I said I was
happy, I would be free
And you would never
ever hear from me.
